Development roadmap
The aim is to develop physical diagnostics in order to qualify modelling outputs and/or describe and understand meso sub-mesoscale processes.
Our philosophy
After the implementation of several readers adaptated to each data source as well as current data analyses, the idea now on is to continuously insert new diagnostics developped to answer any scientific question targetting the comprehension of ocean, atmosphere and/or wave dynamics. To speed up the offer of the osdyn library, developpers are disponible to guide the implementation of new idea or need and to make available the calculations which can be shared by several diagnostics.
Technical vision
We think the right approach to implement diagnostics is to extensively use xarray and dask packages and to follow the Pangeo communauty ideas. Such way would lead us to optimize and parallelize estimates in the future. Right now, the introduction of the osdyn key names (voir section Basement) into xarray datasets allows us to developp generic scripts with little effort.
