Overview: Why OSDYN? ==================== Osdyn aims at exploring together fields from models and observations. Goals and aspirations --------------------- Osdyn is especially dedicated to C-grid modelling results, satellite and in-situ observations operated by European data centers. From statistical estimates (to qualify simulations by comparison with observations) to analyses dedicated to some specific physical processes (deep water formation, upwelling, frontal dynamics...), osdyn contributes in the development and sharing of a panel of scientific analyses. Thank to its nomenclature and data readers, scripts are ready to be used from different sources of data. Moreover, osdyn helps in studying modelling outputs and observations together. Osdyn is a collaborative and community driven project, run on volunteer effort (see :ref:`contributing`). Our target audience is anyone who wants to play with huge N-dimensional labeled arrays in Python, arrays pointing out to fields describing the ocean, atmosphere or waves. Development is driven by the data analysis needs of physical scientists (especially oceanographers), but it can easily be extended to marine biogeochemic fields (especially from modelling) for instance. Osdyn is under active development. See our technical :ref:`roadmap` for more details.
